Ophtalmologie Chénieux,
a shared vision of performance.

Since the 1980s, the Chénieux Ophthalmology Center team has been convinced of the importance of uniting its practice around a state-of-the-art technical platform, both to ensure the most comprehensive treatment of eye pathologies, and to provide the means for a medical practice with a regional and then inter-regional reach.

Today, this team of 19 ophthalmologists* and a hundred or so associates, and the training ground for 3 interns, has taken up the challenge of creating and running a high-performance care unit within the Limoges polyclinic, by setting up a fully integrated center (consultation, diagnosis, outpatient service, laser, refractive surgery, operating room).

PETELLAT, Dr Yohan BENAYOUN, Dr Loïc BOURMAULT, Dr Thomas LATHIÈRE, Dr Sébastien QUILBÉ, Dr DECOURTEIX, Dr Juliette DELMAS, Dr Didier CLAVEL, Dr Olivia LECLERC, Dr Eva TABOURET, Dr P. NEGRIER, Dr L. SIDIBÉ.

Faced with a shortage of doctors, the team has also come up with a new online “glasses appointment” service, Chénieux Vision, which can meet demand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for patients aged 3 to 65.

On site, the active file of consultations is now very large (500 consultations per day on average), and surgical admissions exceed 12,700 procedures per year (99.9% of which are performed on an outpatient basis), with 3 switchboard operators dedicated to handling this daily flow.

Limoges and the surrounding area are no exception to the difficulties faced by rural France, with high demand from sick and elderly people who can no longer find doctors to treat them and/or professionals who are often overwhelmed.

That’s why, alongside the main site in Limoges, ophthalmologists are committed to deploying advanced consultation and surgery facilities in areas where there are major medical deserts.

This continuous adaptation of our care offering has always guided the development policy of the Chénieux Eye Center.

This territorial network, which began in 2006 with a first branch in the commune of Confolens (Charente) and a second in partnership with the commune of Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche (southern Haute-Vienne) in 2007, now covers 4 départements (87, 19, 23, 16), forming a genuine network close to patients’ homes.

Building on the success of these integrated sites, at the Maison Médicale for Saint-Yrieix and the Centre Hospitalier for Confolens, a third site was launched in 2009, in collaboration with the Hôpital Intercommunal du Haut-Limousin located in the commune of Bellac (northern Haute-Vienne), always with the aim of providing local care and detecting pathologies for patients with mobility problems.

This was followed by a presence at the Clinique de la Marche in Guéret (Creuse) in 2009, the Centre Hospitalier d’Aubusson (Creuse) in 2010, and the Centre Hospitalier de la Haute-Corrèze in Ussel (Corrèze), all of which are equipped with a technical platform, opening up the possibility of surgical care close to the local population.

This care activity is fully in line with a public service mission carried out in collaboration with the hospital. This ambulatory care ensures optimum patient care, and encourages exchanges with other practitioners in the area.

Constantly in touch with local players, other development projects based on sustainable partnerships and bold investment strategies are underway (last opening of a secondary practice in May 2024 in Saint-Junien, in the western Haute-Vienne region).
